Framework Laptop 13 Pro is delayed, but not because of the DRAM crisis

The Framework Laptop 13 Pro was announced in mid-April and was to be positioned as a competitor to high-end laptops such as the Apple MacBook Pro ($1,549 on Amazon). Delivery was due to start in June. Framework has now informed customers by e-mail that delivery of the first production batch of the notebook will probably be delayed until the end of July or the beginning of August. Anyone who has pre-ordered the notebook should expect delivery to be around a month later than announced.
Those who order the laptop today can expect delivery between August and October, depending on the configuration. The reason for the delay is not the DRAM crisis. Instead, Framework discovered problems with two of the new components shortly before the start of mass production, namely the haptic touchpad and the display. According to Framework, the original design of the touchpad mainboard led to a grounding problem that could cause the status to be reset if it was clicked several times in succession.
The display problem was resolved with a firmware update, and the panel supplier CSOT is already working on the production of panels with corrected firmware. While Framework says it has already found solutions to these problems, it will take some time to adapt the equipment for production. Framework emphasizes that all customers who cannot wait that long can cancel their order and get their deposit refunded.
