AOC debuts new 13.3-inch E Ink monitor with color and 3K

AOC has just unveiled the 13T5S, a 13.3-inch portable monitor that utilizes a color E Ink display in place of conventional LCD technology. Targeting professionals who spend long hours reading or editing documents, the monitor houses E Ink’s Kaleido 3 panel, which is said to provide a paper-like viewing experience while reducing eye strain. The display has a 3K resolution of 3200 x 2400, with 300ppi for monochrome content and 150ppi when displaying color.
Unlike traditional portable monitors, the 13T5S features a 30Hz refresh rate that is supposed to be more energy efficient and smoother than previous E Ink screens thanks to an IGZO oxide TFT backplane. The laminated display is covered with anti-glare glass and incorporates E Ink’s ComfortGaze front lighting, allowing users to adjust brightness and color temperature. A dual-controller system with AI-assisted ghosting reduction is said to minimize image retention by refreshing only specified screen areas instead of the entire display.
The monitor measures just 8mm thick, weighs around 700g and has a chassis out of anodized aluminum. Two full-fledged USB-C ports are on board that provide both power and data transfer. A folding cover doubles as a stand with multiple viewing angles in portrait or landscape orientation.
The AOC 13T5S is currently available in China for CNY 4,599 (around $679). Information on global availability is still pending. Those who are looking for a comparable alternative are advised to take a look at the Boox Tablet Tab X C at Amazon.
