Simulates natural light: AOC introduces new 4K 240 Hz dual-mode gaming monitor that is easier on the eyes

AOC has revealed a new variant of its 27-inch Agon Pro AG276UZ gaming monitor. This version carries the same product name but features an important feature addition: a circular polarized display instead of utilizing typical linear polarization like other monitors.
Before we address what exactly a circular polarized display is and does, let us take a look at the rest of the specifications of the gaming monitor.
Folks who are familiar with the vanilla version of the Agon Pro AG276UZ gaming monitor will realize that there is absolutely no difference between the two whatsoever spec-wise. The AG276UZ continues to feature a 27-inch 4K Fast IPS panel with a peak refresh rate of 240 Hz.
Gamers who care more about speed than visual fidelity can choose to run the display at 480 Hz, albeit at a lower 1080p resolution. Claimed response time appears to be around 0.3 ms MPRT and 1 ms GTG.
Color reproduction numbers are also very impressive. AOC claims a whopping 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut and a complete 100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut. AOC also claims ΔE of less than one out of the box. Peak brightness is rated at 450 nits, which should be enough for indoor usage.
A circular polarized display, is basically a modern technology that is intended to reduce external glare and reflections in order to improve readability and simulate natural light. In fact, it is the same principle utilized in polarized sunglasses and photography filters. This can also lead to better contrast and color performance, although AOC's numbers do not reveal any such improvements compared for the vanilla variant.
The I/O on offer is detailed below:
- Dual HDMI 2.1
- Single DisplayPort 2.1
- Dual USB-A 5 Gbps
- Audio jack (3.5 mm)
Plenty of ergonomic adjustments are possible, including:
- 5° to 20° of tilt
- 130 mm of height adjustment
- 20° of swivel
- 90° pivot
AOC has not revealed any official pricing or availability details regarding the monitor. Considering just how similar it is to the original Agon Pro AG276UZ, pricing is expected to be rather similar, with the only likely surcharge being for the new circular polarization technology.
