Dasung Link 2 adds a 6.7-inch E Ink touchscreen to the Apple iPhone and many Android smartphones. This is intended to allow conventional smartphones to be converted into convenient e-readers. Despite using E Ink, the display is said to achieve a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

The Dasung Link E-Ink display from 2023 is getting a successor. The concept remains the same – the Dasung Link 2 packs a 6.7-inch E-Ink touchscreen into a 7-millimeter-thin, 155-gram aluminum case.

The Dasung Link 2 is neither a smartphone nor an e-reader. Instead, the display of an Android smartphone or an Apple iPhone ($729 on Amazon) can be wirelessly mirrored to the screen via Miracast or Apple AirPlay. You can then operate the smartphone via the E-Ink touchscreen. This allows you to quickly turn a smartphone into an e-reader that’s comfortable to read even in direct sunlight. For nighttime use, a front light is available with an adjustable color temperature.

Compared to the previous model, Dasung highlights two major improvements in particular. First, Dasung Link 2 is said to be compatible with more smartphones. According to Dasung, it works with all Apple iPhones as well as Android smartphones from Xiaomi and Huawei; devices from Oppo and Vivo have limited compatibility, and the Dasung Link cannot be used with smartphones from Honor, OnePlus, and Samsung. Second, the 300 PPI E-Ink panel achieves a higher refresh rate of 60 Hz.

Pricing and availability

Dasung Link 2 is now available at the manufacturer’s online store. Bundled with a matching 5,000 mAh battery, the E Ink display costs $349. Shipping is free, but the price does not include import sales tax and customs duties.
