Vivo launches new affordable smartphone with massive 8,100 mAh battery

Vivo has officially launched the Vivo Y500 4G smartphone in Nepal and Pakistan. To recall, Vivo introduced the Y500 5G smartphone in China last September. Ironically, the company has launched the 4G variant of the Y500 in the global market instead of the 5G model. However, it remains to be seen whether Vivo will bring the 5G model to the global market. According to reports, Vivo might launch the Y500 5G model under the Vivo T-series lineup in selected markets, such as India.
The affordable 4G-enabled smartphone boasts a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen that outputs at 2800 x 1260 pixel resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. Despite being an affordable smartphone, Vivo has packed a large 8,100 mAh battery into the Y500 4G smartphone that supports 44 W wired charging. For context, the Chinese variant boasts a slightly larger battery and double charging speed, featuring an 8,200 mAh battery with 90 W wired charging.
Furthermore, it is powered by the Unisoc T7300 chipset paired with 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage with no room for storage expansion. The device runs Android 16-based OriginOS 6 out of the box. Unfortunately, there’s no word on its software support from the brand. For photography, you get a dual rear camera setup, consisting of a 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP unknown sensor just to fill the gap. There’s a 32 MP snapper at the front for selfies and video chats.
Available in midnight blue and pearl white, the Vivo Y500 4G starts at NR 54,999 (~$361) for the base 8 GB + 128 GB storage, while the 8 GB + 256 GB model is priced at NR 61,999 (~$407). Buyers can purchase the phone directly from Vivo’s online store and other authorized retailers.
