The Y400 5G has only just gone live in China, but is already tipped to be succeeded by a smartphone that switches to one of Vivo's faux flagship camera humps to go with its flat display.
It could also be a departure from the Y400 in that it is also backed to launch with what might be Vivo's biggest battery, even after the new X300 flagship series is released.
The upcoming device is believed to have a capacity of no less than 8,200mAh: just a little less than the non-rugged Android market's current record-holder, the Honor X70. That could look a little more commonplace in a 2026 now projected to become populated with 10,000mAh daily-driver smartphones, though.
Then again, the Y400 5G's supposed successor might be less up to date in other ways, its silicon included. It is rumored to debut with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC next year (not even the newer 7400), perhaps in an attempt to keep it at the same price-point as its ~$250 forebear.
The device is projected to ship as the Y500 in China, but could also become internationally available as a member of the Vivo T series, such as the T4 5G that has managed to bring its 7,300mAh battery to India via Amazon.
