Koss launches lightweight A/550 open-back headphones with ultra-soft ear cushions

Koss has launched the A/550 over-ear headphones, delivering a wide soundstage with a lightweight, open-back design. The headphones support balanced connections to audio sources thanks to its use of swappable mini-XLR cables.
Koss is known for manufacturing the SP/3 in 1958, the world's first stereo headphones (stereophones), as well as the iconic Porta Pro headphones (sold here on Amazon).
The A/550 hi-fi headphones are the latest model in the Koss Auditor series, a mid-range lineup featuring asymetrical ear cup shape designed to deliver accurate imaging and transparency, according to Koss. The sound reproduction is crafted to reveal fine details while still providing smooth tonality for relaxed listening.
Each open-back ear cup includes magnetically-attached, ultra-soft cushions covered in breathable velour. They are attached to an auto-adjusting head sling with a vegan leather headband.
Inside the ear cups, multilayer polycarbonate diaphragms deliver a wide frequency response of 12 Hz to 22 kHz at 54 ohms, with an SPL of 92 dB. The lightweight 10.1 oz. (287 g) A/550 can connect to non-balanced audio sources using the included 6.5 ft. (2 m) mini-XLR-to-3.5 mm cable and 3.5 mm-to-6.3 mm adapter. Optional balanced cables can also be used.
