Moondrop has launched the Skyland open-back planar headphones for high-resolution music enthusiasts.
The company has expanded the effective area driven by the magnetic induction field versus conventional planar headphones by utilizing its patented Full Drive technology to drive 500 nm thick diaphragms. Moondrop says this helps reduce treble and timbre distortion. The airy music reproduction is kept mostly transparent by utilizing protective, fine-wire mesh grilles over the drivers, says the company.
The headphones have a frequency response of 8 Hz to 34 kHz, with a THD under 0.05% at 1 kHz. The headphones use 3.5 mm audio jacks in each earcup to connect to 4.4 mm balanced audio sources using the included detachable cable. A 4.4 mm-to-6.35 mm and 4.4 mm-to-XLR adapters are included.
The drivers are fitted inside CNC-machined aluminum earcups, which come with soft lambskin earpads and are attached to a strong, flexible carbon fiber headband, with a floating soft, 3D-printed headband pad underneath.
Readers can buy the $799.99 Skyland headphones at Shenzhenaudio. Other Moondrop headphones are available in the Moondrop store on Amazon.
