Sony will be announcing a new device on January 21. Ahead of its full reveal, the company has only hinted that it has a new pair of wireless earbuds or headphones in the works. While Sony is remaining coy about what it has planned, a recent leak already outlined pricing and specifications.
Now, The Walkman Blog has discovered a product listing on Blibli relating to the same unreleased earbuds. Since removed from public view, the listing showcased the design of the LinkBuds Clip for the first time while also underlining its mid-range price tag. For context, Sony is expected to launch the earbuds in the US for $229.99, with a €199.99 price set in the Eurozone.
Ultimately, the LinkBuds Clip resemble the Huawei Flip Clip series or the Soundcore AeroClip (curr. $149.99 on Amazon). As a result, Sony dispenses with silicone ear tips and relies on clamping force to keep the earbuds in place. Despite the open design, Sony claims that the LinkBuds Clip supports AI noise cancellation too, which the company complements with DSEE support, a 10-band equaliser and 360 Reality Audio. Also, the earbuds will be IPX4 certified with up to 9 hours of battery life on a single charge.
