Audeze has launched the Maxwell 2 wireless gaming headset utilizing ultra-thin planar drivers. It is a follow-up to the original Maxwell gaming headset launched in 2022.
The Maxwell 2 utilizes 90 mm planar drivers capable of reproducing high-resolution audio, with a claimed frequency range of 10 Hz to 50 kHz and a THD of less than 0.1% at 100 dB. The headset comes with a detachable hypercardioid boom mic and AI background noise reduction so in-game chats are heard clearly.
The headset supports wireless connections over Bluetooth 5.3 using the LC3, LC3plus, LDAC, AAC, and SBC codecs. Users can also use wired USB-C and 3.5mm connections with any audio source. It has a rated wireless runtime of up to 80 hours between charges. Twenty minutes of charging adds 25% charge, while two hours fully charges the Maxwell 2.
The PlayStation version has an MSRP of $329, while the Xbox version is priced at $349. The former adds Tempest 3D spatial audio when connected to a PlayStation, while the latter adds Dolby Atmos support when connected to an Xbox. Both versions are compatible with PC and Mac computers, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch 2 game consoles, and Android and Apple phones and tablets.
