Planar magnetic technology is usually reserved for high-end audio devices, but Audeze is bringing it to the gaming world with the new Penrose/Penrose X wireless headset. This new audio accessory for both console and PC gamers comes to join the high-end LCD-GX and Mobius gaming headsets.
The highlights of the Audeze Penrose and Penrose X include lossless low-latency 2.4 GHz Dual Wireless connectivity, 100 mm Planar Magnetic drivers, as well as a newly designed (detachable) broadcast-quality microphone. The microphone has a maximum sound pressure level of over 140 dB, and this wireless gaming headset also features built-in noise filters that reduce up to 20 dB of background sound.
When talking about Audeze Penrose and Penrose X, there is not much to say as the only difference is in the compatibility area. The specs are the same, but Penrose is built for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Mac, while Penrose X is made to work with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. However, both work with PCs, so PC gamers will probably choose based on the color.
Sadly, it seems like there's no information regarding this headset's autonomy, but we should expect to get at least 30 hours of battery life on a full charge. Preorders can be placed right away for US$249 (US$299 MSRP) and shipments are scheduled to start in September.
