Audeze has launched the LCD-5s flagship headphones utilizing ultra-thin planar drivers. It is a follow-up to the prior model, the LCD-5 headphones launched in 2021, with an MSRP of $4,500.
The LCD-5s utilizes revised 90 mm planar magnetic drivers capable of reproducing high-resolution audio, with a claimed frequency range of 5 Hz to 50 kHz and a THD of less than 0.1% at 100 dB. The drivers are built using ultra-thin Parallel Uniforce diaphragms and Symmetric Linear Acoustic Modulator (SLAM) technology to create a sonic reproduction with powerful low-end bass and refined precision, according to the company.
Although the LCD-5s has a low impedance of 30 ohms, the company recommends an audio source that can provide over 500 mW of power. They can handle a maximum power input of 5 W RMS. The headphones weigh 475 g (1.05 lbs.). The headphone comes with a 4-pin XLR balanced cable along with 6.3 mm and 3.5 mm adapters in an aluminum travel case.
Readers can order the Audeze LCD-5s from the company's website or look for its arrival in the Audeze store on Amazon. Gamers might want to consider the company's Maxwell 2 gaming headset.
