Turtle Beach unveils the Stealth Pro II ANC wireless gaming headset with longer battery life
Active noise-canceling wireless gaming headsets typically demand a premium. The new Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II is no exception, but the manufacturer has sought to make meaningful upgrades. Along with larger 60mm drivers and beefier swappable batteries, owners can switch between up to 4 sources.
Available for pre-order now, the Turtle Beach headset will launch on May 17th for $349.99/€349.99/£299.99. One model supports the PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, while the alternative limits wireless connectivity to the PC, PS4, and PS5.
Changes with the Stealth Pro II design
Its predecessor is well-built but drew some complaints for a 400+ gram construction and a tight fit. The company doesn’t list the weight of the Stealth Pro II, but there are hopes for improved comfort. A mesh fabric suspension headband was chosen to take pressure off heads and promote breathability.
Tucked inside the memory foam ear cushions are 60mm Eclipse dual drivers. With Dolby Atmos spatial audio as an option, ideally, the 24-bit/96kHz sound will offer a delicate balance between low, mid, and high tones. Yet, the ANC wireless gaming headset may have seen more notable advancements in connectivity.
The Stealth Pro II ships with a USB dongle and puck-shaped transmitter, supporting 2 sources in addition to Bluetooth. Simultaneous 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth audio is possible. However, there is a button on the peripheral to cycle up to 4 paired sources. If buyers have complicated setups, they may need to purchase additional adapters. Fortunately, Turtle Beach is including an additional USB adapter for anyone who pre-orders the headset.
The puck can recharge one of two 40-hour battery packs to ensure limited downtime. That’s a noticeable jump from the original's combined 24-hour battery life.
The Turtle Beach headset has a familiar rival
The ANC capabilities of the Stealth Pro II may put it in the same class as the best wireless gaming headsets, like SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro. Four internal mics monitor environments for distractions. The external, unidirectional 9mm floating mic also relies on AI to filter out unwanted noise.
