Apple AirPods Max 2 launch with 50% better ANC, HDR amplifier and new features powered by Apple H2

The Apple AirPods Max 2 look similar to the first generation AirPods Max ($409 on Amazon), as the design has hardly changed. The over-ear headphones still rely on large aluminum ear cups, which lead to the very high weight of 386 grams. The mesh headband is designed to distribute this weight over a large area to ensure a high level of wearing comfort.
The digital crown for controlling playback and volume is retained, as is the fact that the headphones do not have a power button. A particularly energy-saving standby mode is only activated when the headphones are placed in the supplied carrying case. Apple continues to advertise a rather meagre battery life of 20 hours with active noise cancellation. However, the ANC on the new model is said to be 50 percent more effective
Apple advertises reduced Bluetooth latency and support for 24-bit 48 kHz hi-fi music when connected via a USB-C cable. An HDR amplifier is said to process music with a greater dynamic range and thus improve the sound. The H2 chip also enables a number of new features, including live translation and Conversation Awareness, which allows transparency mode to be activated automatically when a conversation is in progress.
Pricing and availability
The AirPods Max 2 will be available for pre-order from March 25 at the Apple Online Store and delivery is expected to start at the beginning of April. The over-ear headphones will be available in blue, purple, starlight (beige), orange or midnight (black), each for a recommended retail price of $549.
