Just in October 2025, reports claimed that Spotify would increase prices in the US during Q1 2026, following similar price hikes in the UK and Switzerland last fall. Those reports have now proven accurate, as Spotify has officially announced new price increases across several regions, including the United States, Estonia, and Latvia.
In its announcement, Spotify explained that these price changes are meant to reflect the value it provides to users, while also allowing the platform to keep improving the overall listening experience and better support artists. Alongside this explanation, the company also revealed the updated pricing for all of its major subscription plans in the US.
Under the new pricing structure, the Individual Premium plan now costs $12.99 per month, up from $11.99. The Duo plan, which supports two users, has increased from $16.99 to $18.99 per month. The Family plan has also gone up, moving from $19.99 to $21.99 per month. Students are not exempt either, as the Student Premium plan has increased from $5.99 to $6.99 per month.
It’s worth noting that the company last raised prices back in 2024 in the US, and that increase was $1 across most plans. While the change may seem small on its own, analysts estimate that even a $1 monthly increase in the US alone could generate around $500 million in additional annual revenue.
For existing subscribers, the new pricing will not apply immediately. Instead, the updated rates will take effect on their next billing date. New subscribers, however, will see the updated prices right away when signing up.
