New Sony WF-1000XM6 leak confirms final details before global release

Sony will be announcing its WF-1000XM6 earbuds in a few hours. To be precise, the company will present its long-awaited WF-1000XM5 successors at 16:00 UTC. Based on past releases, the WF-1000XM6 should be available to order shortly after Sony finishes its livestream event. For reference, the company has hinted that a new version of the WH-1000XM6 is coming too (curr. $398 on Amazon).
In the meantime, MrWalkman and The Walkman Blog have revealed more details about the WF-1000XM6 ahead of its official announcement. Reportedly, Sony will market its new pair of wireless earbuds as providing the best call quality in the company's history and 'world-class noise cancelling'. However, these statements were only true as of December 1, 2025.
Meanwhile, the earbuds' redesign is said to deliver an 11% slimmer build than the WF-1000XM5 that 'avoids the contours of the ear'. As a result, Sony believes that the WF-1000XM6 will be more comfortable than its predecessor. Apparently, this new design should also minimise wind noise while improving noise cancellation in the process.
Moreover, the Noise Cancelling Processor QN3e should provide the WF-1000XM6 with 25% better ANC than the WF-1000XM5. In part, this is because the WF-1000XM6 contains 4 MEMS microphones rather than the 3 found inside the WF-1000XM5. The MrWalkman and The Walkman Blog pair have provided a first look at the WF-1000XM6's driver too, which we embedded below. All in all, the WF-1000XM6 is expected to last up to 8 hours between charges with ANC enabled.
