Honor details Robot Phone 200MP camera and imaging chip details

Honor recently revealed when their Robot Phone will be launched, and now the company has revealed more details on the camera specs on the phone. The specs were outlined at an imaging technology event in Hengdian, in China's Zhejiang province, at the same time the firm announced a partnership with German cinema equipment maker ARRI. The goal of the partnership is to bring the imaging tools used in the movie industry to a mobile device.
Launching on August 12, the Robot Phone utilizes a triple-rear-camera system. The main camera is a 200MP unit built around a 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, which is mounted on a three-axis gimbal. This primary sensor is paired with a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera.
The camera system is powered by a new in-house image signal processor called the Honor Yuguang H1. This chip operates alongside a custom gimbal motor that weighs 2.6 grams. Honor states that this motor is 65 percent smaller and offers a 35 percent higher torque density than typical gimbal motors currently available. The company noted that the hardware design is covered by over 100 patents.
The device features a real-time, on-device image processing system that controls white balance, exposure, tone, glare reduction, and detail enhancement across the three cameras. It also includes AIMAGE 2.0, a stabilization engine designed to steady footage during movement. The ARRI integration provides native Log-C video encoding and LUT color grading files directly on the phone. The system allows users to manually lock focus, white balance, and exposure settings and supports the transfer of camera movement data similar to professional film workflows.
Honor also stated that we will see this camera tech being used in future Honor phones, including the upcoming Magic 9 series. Additionally, Honor and ARRI plan to open a joint imaging lab to research and develop future mobile camera technologies.
