Honor Robot Phone leaked hands-on video shows thickness, camera gimbal in action

Honor will be showing off its Robot Phone at the World AI Conference (WAIC) on July 18. The company has shared some information about the specifications and confirmed the design already, but a hands-on video seems to have now leaked, showing the camera in action, as well as the thickness of the phone.
The video was shared by Tech Info on X (with a @Tech Xiaoxin watermark) and shows the back of the phone with the camera and gimbal mechanism tucked in its pocket. There is a dedicated button in the camera app that activates the robotic arm which takes the camera gimbal and positions it above the phone. It was quite interesting to see Honor’s Alpha Lab videos of the gimbal in action, and it’s just as interesting in the hands-on video.
As the camera takes its position, it seemingly locks onto a subject and starts tracking it, even when the user moves the phone slightly. It then reorients itself to capture what the user is aiming at. Of course, thanks to the gimbal and robotic movements, the footage looks very smooth.
The leaked video also showcases how thick the phone is. Because of all the readjustments that Honor must have had to make to accommodate a moving arm in the camera island, the Honor Robot Phone is quite thick, at least from the initial impressions. On top of that, the camera island is even thicker. On the right side of the phone, the power, volume, and what looks to be a camera control capacitive button can be seen.
Honor is expected to officially launch the Robot Phone in China in Q3, but an exact date is unclear. It could just launch on July 18 since pre-orders are already live and the CEO of the company has confirmed the phone is ready.
