The Honor Magic V6 sets new standards in design and features: It’s extremely thin, has a large battery, IP69 certification, and powerful hardware. Compared to its predecessor, however, the new features are relatively modest, while the inner display and cooling system still have room for improvement.

With the Magic V6, Honor is consistently pursuing its strategy and delivering one of the slimmest foldables currently on the market. Despite its sleek design, users hardly have to make any compromises: The large battery ensures long battery life, charging is fast via cable or wirelessly, and with an IP69 rating, the foldable offers a level of protection that no other device in this class has achieved so far. It also features a fast USB port with display output and desktop mode, as well as support for an active stylus on both displays.

The performance of the Snapdragon SoC is more than sufficient for demanding tasks in everyday use and should remain impressive in the long term thanks to the promised seven years of software updates. Under sustained load, however, the cooling system reaches its limits due to the thin chassis, as evidenced by interrupted stress tests. In normal use, however, this was not noticeably problematic.

The camera setup remains largely unchanged from its predecessor but benefits from optimizations in image processing and AI-assisted zoom. Image quality is impressive across a wide range of focal lengths, even if extreme zoom levels look noticeably artificial. Videos also turn out well, though a Pro mode and higher frame rates beyond 60 FPS are missing.

The displays have their pros and cons. The outer display is noticeably brighter and is ideal for outdoor use. While the foldable inner display achieves high HDR peak values, it lags behind some competitors when it comes to typical everyday content. Positive features include high-frequency PWM dimming and comprehensive eye protection functions.

All in all, the Honor Magic V6 impresses with its exceptionally slim design, outstanding features, and a strong overall package. However, the improvements over the Magic V5 are smaller than expected, and the higher list price may not convince every potential buyer - even if attractive launch offers initially offset this drawback.
