Tesla finally makes a bike to enter two-wheeler business with pricey kids strider

Elon Musk has mentioned several times that Tesla will never make an electric two-wheeler like a motorcycle for safety reasons.
He's said it at shareholder meetings and confirmed it on X in reply to random AI-generated videos of himself gliding around on a mystery vehicle. The trauma behind this decision runs deep, as he was hit by a truck while on a road bike at 17 in an accident that could have had devastating consequences.
Tesla Balance Bike price and age bracket
This week, however, Tesla launched a two-wheeler. It is not a dirt bike or anything of the sorts, but rather a Tesla Balance Bike for Kids that sells for $225 and targets children aged 2 to 5.
It has no motor and no pedals and is simply designed to be pushed along by kids' feet all the while they are getting acquainted with the Tesla brand at a very young age. The new Balance Bike from Tesla is built from a magnesium alloy frame in its signature black-and-white color scheme, fits riders up to 35 kg (77 pounds), and offers five height levels for the seat. It is exactly the kind of two-wheeler that had no problems passing muster before Musk, as it tops out at toddler walking speed and the chances it can be involved in an accident with a truck are minuscule.
That price tag, however, puts it firmly at the top of the balance bike market. Most competing models sell for under a Benjamin, and only a handful of rivals cost more, like the Woom Go 1, which goes for $249 on Amazon but at least throws in brakes for the premium. Tesla's version has none, and parents would be paying nearly triple the going rate of a strider bike for the brand and the Tesla logo at the front.
Still, the first Balance Bike batch has already been sold out, as these things go with Tesla, with shipping pushed to August 2026. Needless to say, it barely counts as Tesla finally entering the two-wheeler business but is rather just a pricey way to get toddlers to develop brand loyalty.
