Honor Robot Phone showcased with AI buddy and robotic camera, teasing lifelike interactions as a daily companion

Honor has showcased its Honor Robot Phone with a built-in AI companion at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. The AI is designed to be used as a daily driver thanks to its on-screen avatar and 3-axis gimbal camera system that is capable of expressing rich body language through motion. The AI companion is designed to sense and interact with its user as a new mode of smartphone interaction alongside Honor's prototype humanoid.
The Robot Phone incorporates a gimbal camera hidden behind a slide-open cover on the back. This helps protect the camera from damage when being carried in a purse or pants pocket. When deployed, the camera leverages a plethora of AI-powered features to track subjects, interact with people, and film them.
AI subject tracking enables the on-board AI buddy to sense and follow people as they move about during conversations or filming. Expressive interactions with the AI buddy are possible thanks to its ability to control the robotic camera with rich body language, such as bopping with the beat of music or nodding in agreement with a decision.

The gimbal uses micro motors that are 70% smaller than mainstream models used by competitors, and their quick reactions help ensure stable shots when moving about or when using the AI Spinshot feature, which can automatically provide pan shots across a 180-degree range or tilt shots across a 90-degree range. It is technically possible to do long exposure astrophotography of the sky without star blur, although such a feature has not been confirmed since Honor says it is still finalizing features.

The 200 MP camera produces videos with a more cinematic aesthetic thanks to the integration of ARRI Image Science, which delivers images with a "natural color, gentle highlight roll-off, and a sense of depth that feels authentic to how stories are meant to be seen", according to ARRI VP Dr. Benedikt von Lindeiner. ARRI Alexa digital film cameras have been used to film many Hollywood blockbusters such as Skyfall due to the company's signature image quality.
To help with the tedious task of creating polished videos, the phone has an AI video editor along with an AI shooting assistant.
Honor expects to release the Robot Phone in the second half of 2026, with features currently under development and subject to change. Due to a long-standing ban on products from Huawei and former-subsidiary Honor due to national security risks, the Honor Robot Phone will not be released in the US, unlike phones from competitors such as OnePlus, which are available in the US through Amazon.
At MWC 2026, Honor also teased its humanoid Honor Robot prototype, which was seen dancing and backflipping. Although no details have been provided, the Honor Robot is designed for daily companionship, shopping assistance, and helping with inspections at work as part of the company's Augmented Human Intelligence (AHI) vision to integrate artificial intelligence into daily life.
