Alongside the ultra-thin Magic 8 Pro Air, Honor has also introduced the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design. The smartphone is almost identical to the Magic 8 Pro from a technical perspective, except that the RSR version maxes out at 24GB RAM and 1TB of storage.
However, the most significant difference is certainly the design, as the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design uses a ceramic chassis with a striking rear panel that sports a special 3D texture. As usual, the flagship phone is intended to stand out with high-quality cameras. This starts with the 50MP f/2.0 selfie camera, which is combined with a ToF sensor to enable 3D facial recognition similar to Apple’s Face ID. Alternatively, a 3D fingerprint sensor that’s integrated into the display is also available.
200MP telephoto camera with up to 8.7x zoom thanks to converter
The rear camera setup sports a 50MP f/1.6 main camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, a 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide camera and a 200MP f/2.6 periscope tele camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and 3.7x optical zoom. For users who need a higher zoom, Honor will sell a tele converter that effectively increases the tele camera’s zoom to about 8.7x. The separately available camera kit expands the smartphone with a protective case and a magnetic grip, both feature a leather texture. The case is compatible with regular 67mm filters, while the grip adds a shutter button and a configurable control dial.
The Honor Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The 6.71-inch display offers a resolution of 2808 x 1256 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 6,000 nits of brightness. The battery has a capacity of 7,200mAh and can be charged via USB-C at up to 120 watts or wirelessly at 80 watts. The smartphone is compatible with the Beidou satellite network, but this feature is likely limited to the Chinese market.
