After days of teasing, Honor has officially unveiled the Magic 8 Pro Air in China. It's rivaling the likes of the iPhone Air and Galaxy S25 Edge. Of course, Honor's new slim phone has a better set of specs than Samsung's latest thin flagship phone.
It packs the Dimensity 9500, the current-gen flagship SoC from MediaTek. Honor has paired it with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, but these performance-focused specs aren't the only highlights of the Magic 8 Pro Air. The main spotlight is on the design, and the brand claims that the smartphone is 6.1mm thin and weighs only 155g. However, it's unclear whether this thickness claim accounts for the camera bump.
As for the front, Honor notes that the Magic 8 Pro Air features a flagship display with "ultra-narrow" bezels. The claimed bezel thickness is 1.08mm, and the screen has a peak brightness rating of 6,000 nits, comes with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and has multiple screen protection features.
Honor further highlights the camera setup of the Magic 8 Pro Air. The rear has three cameras, with the primary being a 50MP shooter with a 1/1.3-inch size and f/1.6 aperture. It's paired with a 64MP telephoto with 3.2x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide. The front sports a 50MP selfie shooter.
While the phone is thin and light, it features a relatively large battery, with its rated capacity being 5,500mAh. To compare, the iPhone Air, while measuring 5.6mm at its thinnest, packs a 3,124mAh battery that, per user reviews, can't quite deliver all-day runtime.
IP68 and IP69 dust and waterproof ratings, 120Hz screen refresh rate with 4320Hz PWM dimming, 50W wireless charging, and 80W wired charging support (160W Anker Prime Charger curr. $115.99 on Amazon) are among the other highlights of the phone. The launch price in China is CNY 4,499 for the base model, around $645, while the top-end configuration goes for CNY 5,499, about $789. Honor has yet to officially confirm when the Magic 8 Pro Air will make a global debut.
