Lenovo releases new 14-inch ThinkPad globally with Snapdragon X2 Elite and 32 GB RAM
Earlier this month, we reviewed the ThinkPad T14s Gen 7 powered by AMD’s Gorgon Point platform (curr. $1,611 on Amazon). In short, Lenovo has completely redesigned the ThinkPad T14s for its seventh generation with an improved chassis, good system performance and long battery life.
Overall, we found only a few shortcomings with our review unit. However, we did come across high power consumption during standby, affecting battery life in everyday use. As an alternative, Lenovo has now released the ThinkPad T14s Gen 7 globally with Snapdragon X2 processors globally.
To recap, this variant arrived in mid-July across selected markets, including North America. Now, the laptop has reached Europe and elsewhere with a choice between Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-42-100 and Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-80-100 chipsets. Despite the name differences, only a 20% performance difference exists in our benchmarks.
Additionally, Lenovo offers the ThinkPad T14s Gen 7 Snapdragon globally with LPDDR5X-9600 RAM and M.2 2242 storage. Moreover, the 14-inch laptop comes with one of two displays. Both 1,920 x 1,200-pixel and 60 Hz IPS panels, the cheaper of the two supports touch inputs with 400 nits peak brightness and 45% NTSC colour space coverage. Meanwhile, Lenovo's more expensive option lacks touchscreen support but peaks at 500 nits with a superior 100% sRGB colour space coverage.
On top of that, the ThinkPad T14s Gen 7 Snapdragon comes with a 58 Wh battery, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and 32 GB of RAM when choosing the Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-80-100. Pricing starts at €2,009-€2,280 and £1,909 when configuring the Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-42-100, 16 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD. For reference, the same configuration retails for $1,719 in the US.
