The Lenovo Legion 5 consistently ranks among the best affordable gaming laptops, and the 2026 Gen 11 Legion 5 is no different. In our review of the RTX 5060 SKU, the Gen 11 Legion 5 showed superb and stable performance as well as an excellent OLED display and comfortable inputs. In fact, we had very little to complain about the Legion 5a Gen 11.

In other words, the Lenovo Legion 5 is an easy recommendation for gamers who want fast performance but are on a somewhat tight budget. Those gamers will be happy to know that Walmart has discounted the Legion 5a OLED gaming laptop with an RTX 5060 by a huge $850.99. The laptop is now retailing for just $1,249.

For $1,249, the Legion 5 on sale pairs the 105 W RTX 5060 laptop GPU with the 8-core Ryzen 7 250 APU, 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, and 1 TB of storage. A 15.3-inch 2,560 x 1,600p OLED panel with a 165 Hz refresh rate graces the front of the machine. On the inside, the Legion 5 packs a respectably sized 80 Wh battery, a Wi-Fi 7 chip, and a spare slot for a second M.2 SSD.

In addition to the M.2 SSD, you can also expand the DDR5 RAM to a maximum of 32 GB by using an aftermarket DDR5 kit.

As we’ve hinted at above, the Lenovo Legion 5a (Gen 11) on sale exhibits fast and stable performance thanks to the RTX 5060 and a capable cooling solution. So, even demanding AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077 can be comfortably run above 60 FPS at the highest settings at 1080p/1440p.

Sadly, a cooling solution that keeps the performance of a gaming laptop from degrading over consistent use often produces loud fan noise as a side effect. The Lenovo Legion 5 suffers from this as well, as we noticed fans ramp up quite a bit under heavy load. So, we highly recommend getting a good gaming headset to pair with the laptop (get a pair on Amazon).

What isn’t sad, however, is the 1600p 15.3-inch OLED display. The display boasts 500 nits of brightness, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and refreshes at a fast 165 Hz. Our only real issues with the screen were the glossy finish, which reduces outside visibility, and PWM flickering. Aside from these, the display is truly fantastic for both gaming and media consumption.

Finally, the Lenovo Legion 5a also has decent battery life for a gaming laptop, as it lasted for over 9 hours in our WLAN test.
