Review verdict for the Schenker Element 16 - Good all-rounder with replaceable parts

With the Schenker Element 16, the manufacturer is launching an innovative 16-inch multimedia notebook that wants to set new standards, particularly in terms of repairability and longevity. Powered by a modern Intel Panther Lake processor, the device targets users looking for a high-performance, future-proof all-rounder.

During development, a special effort was made to offer customers excellent maintenance and repair capabilities. While many modern laptops rely on permanently soldered components, Schenker takes a different approach. Standard upgradeable parts and components subject to wear - such as RAM, the SSD, and the Wi-Fi module - can be swapped out flexibly. Other key elements, including the battery, fans, and even the ports, are simply screwed in place, making them easy to replace if necessary.

A deliberate decision lies behind this hardware configuration. Schenker consciously opted against Panther Lake processors featuring fast integrated graphics, such as the Arc B390. Using those chips would have required either soldering the RAM directly to the board or using the still-expensive LPCAMM2 modules. This compromise keeps the notebook modular and affordable, but customers looking for the faster iGPUs will be disappointed.

The chassis is constructed from a mix of aluminum and recycled materials, creating a solid and sturdy overall impression - though the base unit is prone to slight creaking noises. A real highlight of the laptop is its matte IPS panel; thanks to a 120 Hz refresh rate, it delivers smooth visuals, offers full sRGB color gamut coverage, and impresses with accurate color reproduction right out of the box. Combined with a comfortable, backlit keyboard, the device is ideally suited for productive work. Its portability is further enhanced by excellent battery life, lasting up to 16.5 hours in a realistic Wi-Fi test.
