Verdict - Schenker Element 16 is a good all-rounder
The new Schenker Element 16 is a good 16-inch allrounder, especially if you want a very good matte IPS panel with 120 Hz and no PWM flickering as well as long batter runtimes. The input devices are comfortable, you get good connectivity options including Thunderbolt and Wi-Fi 7 and the laptop is very easy to upgrade and repair. The performance of the Panther Lake CPU is good, but the fans will be very audible under higher workloads and you only get the slower iGPUs with 4 Xe cores.
The lack of faster iGPU options makes sense from a cost perspective, since the Core Ultra X chips would have required soldered RAM or more expensive LPCAMM2 modules, but it is still unfortunate that they are not available. Another big issue is the bad sound system, while the creaking sounds from the base unit are not very reassuring, either.

Case, Connectivity and Input Devices
The Schenker Element 16 looks like a regular black laptop at first, but a closer inspection reveals slightly protruding port sections on both sides with little symbols as well as indicator lights on top, so it is very easy to find the port you are looking for. The chassis uses aluminum for the lid and the top of the base unit, while the bottom is made from a very rough plastic. According to the manufacturer, the materials were chosen with the environment in mind and the laptop is also extremely easy to repair or upgrade, but more on that later. Overall chassis quality is decent with a stable base unit, but there are pretty loud creaking noises when you try to twist it. The lid itself and the hinges leaves a better impression, even though there is some minor wobbling.
In terms of ports, you get a total of four USB ports (including 2x USB-C with Thunderbolt 4) as well as HDMI and a microSD-card reader with average transfer rates. The Wi-Fi 7 module manages stable transfer rates and the 1080p webcam (with IR & shutter) takes average pictures. The backlit keyboard includes a numpad and offers a comfortable typing experience with sufficient travel. The large clickpad works well, but mechanical click in the lower half are quite loud.

Maintenance
The bottom panel is secured by a simple lever and pretty much all components are accessible and can easily be replaced since they are secured by screws, including the small extension modules for the connectors (only the Wi-Fi module is slightly hidden underneath cables). 8 GB RAM is soldered onto the mainboard and the single SO-DIMM slot can be equipped with a 64 GB module for a total of up to 72 GB.
Display
Schenker uses a matte 16-inch panel from BOE with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, 120 Hz and full sRGB color gamut. The image quality is very good, there are no problems with the response times or PWM flickering, and bright contents do not look grainy. Colors also look good, even though you cannot expect OLED levels here.
In our analysis with the professional CalMAN software, the factory calibration is already very good with low color deviations, but we were able to improve the image quality even further with our own calibration (profile can be downloaded for free in the box below). The average brightness is 430 nits but the black value is slightly increased (0.41), which results in a contrast ratio of "only" ~1050:1.

Testing Conditions
Schenker includes multiple power profiles, but there is no performance difference between Balanced and Best Performance, so we used Balanced for our benchmarks and measurements.
Processor Performance
Intel's Core Ultra 7 356H (Panther Lake) offers a total of 16 cores and consumes up to 65 Watts (peak, 50 Watts under sustained workloads), so the overall CPU performance is good and stable, even on battery power. The Asus Zenbook A16 with the Snapdragon X2 Extreme SoC is roughly 30 % faster in single-core and up to 70 % faster in multi-core scenarios.

System and Storage Devices
System performance is very good and Schenker includes a fast PCIe 5.0 drive from Samsung (9100 Pro) with a capacity of 2 TB (1.76 TB free) and excellent transfer rates of up to 14 GB/s. We did not encounter any stability of DPC latency issues.

GPU and Gaming Performance
The Element 16 is limited to the slower Panther Lake iGPU with 4 Xe cores, so the GPU performance is sufficient for light multimedia workloads including the playback of high-resolution videos, but the gaming capabilities are limited. The Arc B390 iGPUs are roughly 2.5 times more powerful and the Adreno X2-90 iGPU is also noticeably faster.

Power Consumption and Battery Life
Our consumption measurements do not show any surprises and the 100W power adapter is sufficient. The 72-Wh battery manages good runtimes of up to 16 hours in our Wi-Fi test at 150 nits (10 hours at full brightness). Only the XPS 16 with the inferior Full-HD screen lasts even longer.
