Conclusion - Key 18 Pro impresses with top features
With the Key 18 Pro, Schenker offers a very specialized mobile workstation that sets standards, especially in terms of equipment (4x RAM, 4x SSD incl. PCIe 5.0, dual Ethernet, Thunderbolt 5). The Key 18 is practically unrivaled in terms of both RAM and SSD capacity. The performance is also good, although there is still some room for improvement with the processor.
The black aluminum housing is very simple, but the overall quality is okay. Only the occasional creaking of the lid is a little annoying on our test device. We also have some criticism of the display, as we would have expected at least color profiles for sRGB and P3 for the high price.
All in all, the Key 18 Pro is a good mobile workstation with very powerful hardware and if you can make use of the features, it is currently practically without alternative.
Pros
Cons
With the Key 18 Pro, Schenker has a large mobile workstation on offer that is primarily aimed at creative enthusiasts. Thanks to four slots for RAM & SSDs, the expansion options are massive and the fastest mobile GPUs are also available. We test the high-end version with the Core Ultra 9 275HX, GeForce RTX 5090 laptop, 4K display, 256 GB RAM and four SSDs with a total storage capacity of 28 TB. Of course, this is reflected in the price, which is 6,400 Euros (~$7490) for our test device.
Specifications
Case & equipment
The aluminum housing is well-made and sturdy, but the design is rather unspectacular and the lid occasionally creaks a little. The smooth surfaces are not quite as susceptible to dirt as feared. However, the dimensions and weight of 4 kg (~8.8 pounds) should not be underestimated. The maintenance options are excellent, as there are four slots each for RAM and M.2-2280 SSDs (including 1x PCIe 5.0). In addition to 2x Ethernet (2.5 GBit/s), there are also Wi-Fi 7 and two modern Thunderbolt 5 ports.

Input devices - Illuminated keyboard
Display - 4K IPS with 200 Hz
Our test device is equipped with the optional 4K panel (120/200 Hz), which offers good subjective picture quality. There is no PWM flickering and the response times are fast. The brightness is more than 500 cd/m², but the factory profile is not very accurate and there is no sRGB profile. We can significantly improve the display with our own calibration.

Performance - Core Ultra 9 275HX and 256 GB RAM
The Key 18 Pro offers four RAM slots for up to 256 GB, which then run at a lower speed, however. We have also entered results for 32 GB of RAM (5600 MHz) in the system performance section.
Test conditions
We carried out our tests with the power profile Performance (Turbo). Note: In silent mode, the TGP continues to drop to 105 watts after a few minutes and the surface temperatures are a few degrees higher than in power mode.

Processor - Intel Arrow Lake-HX
With power limits of 145/130 watts, you cannot utilize the full performance potential of the Core Ultra 9 275HX but the overall CPU performance is still very good and, above all, stable.

Mass storage
The Key 18 already offers a fast PCIe 5.0 slot, which is fully utilized by the Samsung SSD 9100 Pro (transfer rates of over 11 GB/s). The performance also remains completely stable. With three additional M.2-2280 slots (PCIe 4.0), enormous storage capacities can be realized, such as the total of 28 TB on our test device.

GPU performance
The GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop is currently the fastest mobile graphics card and the maximum TGP is 175 watts. Advanced Optimus is available and the GPU performance is basically very good, but in some benchmarks (especially slightly older ones) the performance is somewhat lower than expected. There may be a connection here with the current driver version from Nvidia, where there have been occasional difficulties in recent months. However, the performance is generally good, even when gaming.

Noise emissions
The two fans always operate with a minimally audible noise and also become very loud under high load. Although silent mode is very quiet, it is only suitable to a limited extent under load, as the CPU performance is very low and the GPU performance is also reduced with sustained load. There were no other electronic noises on the test device.
