Asus releases new MacBook Pro rival with Ryzen AI 9, 64 GB RAM and 120 Hz OLED display

Asus has released a new ProArt Creation 16 configuration in China with an AMD Ryzen AI 400 Series processor based on the Gorgon Point platform. The new model follows Asus' recent ProArt updates, including this year's RTX Spark-powered 14- and 16-inch models.
The laptop is 14.9 mm thick and weighs 1.8 kg. Asus uses a CNC-formed chassis, while the 16-inch OLED panel has a 2.8K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. The display can reach up to 1,100 nits of brightness.
The configuration comes with 64 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 2 TB SSD (Samsung 9100 PRO available on Amazon). Storage can also be expanded through two M.2 slots, although the available source does not clearly state the maximum supported capacity.
The Ryzen AI 9 H 465 has 10 cores and 20 threads and can reach up to 4.9 GHz. Asus uses three fans and four heat pipes for cooling.
In our processor comparison, the Ryzen AI 9 465 scores lower overall than Apple's 15-core M5 Pro. It reaches around 61% of the M5 Pro's overall Performance Rating. Since the new laptop uses the H-series version, its performance may be slightly different, so these results are only a reference.
The graphics hardware is different, though. Asus uses a dedicated RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, while the MacBook Pro relies on the integrated GPU in Apple's M5 Pro processor. This gives the ProArt Creation 16 a dedicated GPU for graphics-heavy workloads.
We have previously reviewed the ProArt P16, which uses the same graphics hardware but an older AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor. The new Creation 16 follows a similar approach, pairing an OLED display with dedicated Nvidia graphics in a relatively slim chassis.
For connectivity, the laptop has HDMI 2.1, USB4, two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, a 3.5 mm audio jack and an SD card reader. HDMI 2.1, USB4, one USB-A port and the audio jack are on the left, while the remaining ports and card reader are on the right.
The Ryzen AI 9 H 465 and RTX 5070 configuration is listed in China for CNY 22,999 (around $3,420), with pricing and availability for other markets yet to be announced.
