For the first time, Motorola has published a list of smartphones that will receive the Android 15 update. Devices such as the Razr 40, the Edge 50 Ultra and cheaper models such as the Moto G35 will receive the latest Android version.

While Samsung and Google promise Android updates for at least seven years for their flagship devices, Motorola's update policy is far less customer-friendly. Even flagships such as the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra only receive three major Android updates, while most models in the Moto G series only receive one major Android update and three years of security patches.

However, there are signs that Motorola is planning longer support in the future. The ThinkPhone 25, like the Motorola Edge 50 Neo, will receive Android updates for five years. Motorola has now also confirmed which smartphones will receive the update to Android 15, although this list could possibly be extended to include other models. Accordingly, users of the following smartphones can expect an update to the latest Android version:

  • Motorola Edge+ 2023
  • Motorola Edge 2024
  • Motorola Edge 40 Pro
  • Motorola Edge 50 / Edge 50 Fusion / Edge 50 Neo / Edge 50 Pro / Edge 50 Ultra

  • Moto G Power 5G (2024)
  • Moto G 5G (2024)
  • Moto G Stylus 5G (2024)
  • Moto G34 5G
  • Moto G35
  • Moto G45
  • Moto G55
  • Moto G75
  • Moto G85

  • Motorola Razr 40 / Razr 40 Ultra
  • Motorola Razr 50 / Razr 50 Ultra

  • ThinkPhone by Motorola
  • ThinkPhone (2025)

Android 15 introduces a variety of new features, including the ability to record only a part of the screen, improved volume controls and new options for browsing PDF files. The "Private Space" feature allows apps and data to be pooled in a password-protected area. The widget preview can now access user data to show what a widget looks like when placed on the home screen. The new "Theft Detection Lock" can automatically lock a smartphone if it is snatched from the user's hand.
