Motorola's second 'ThinkPhone' is now official. While the ThinkPhone 25 is a reworked Edge 50 Neo, it should be more durable thanks to the inclusion of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i glass across its 120 Hz and 1220p pOLED display.

Motorola has now released its second ThinkPhone, which replaces last year's Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1-powered model (curr. $399.99 on Amazon). For reference, while the company's website refers to the new smartphone as the 'ThinkPhone by Motorola', it seems its official name is actually the ThinkPhone 25.

At any rate, the new ThinkPhone is effectively a re-branded Edge 50 Neo. Although Motorola does not acknowledge as much, the ThinkPhone 25 matches the Edge 50 Neo with 154.1 x 71.2 x 8.1 mm dimensions, a 171 g weight, IP68 certification, MIL-STD-810H compliance and a 4,310 mAh battery that supports 68 W and 15 W wireless charging. Additionally, Motorola has equipped the ThinkPhone 25 with the following camera hardware:

  • Primary: 50 MP Sony LYT-700C, f/1.8 aperture, dual pixel PDAF, 1.0 µm pixel size, OIS
  • Ultra-wide: 13 MP, f/2.2 aperture, 1.12 µm pixel size, 120° FOV
  • Telephoto: 10 MP, f/2.0 aperture, 1.0 µm pixel size, OIS, 3x optical zoom
  • Front-facing: 32 MP, f/2.4 aperture, 0.7 µm pixel size

Moreover, the ThinkPhone 25 combines a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of uMCP storage. For some reason, Motorola has installed a slightly smaller display inside the new ThinkPhone though, which is 0.4-inches smaller than the 6.4-inch equivalent inside the Edge 50 Neo. Still, the 6.36-inch pOLED panel outputs at 1220p with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness.

Added to that, the ThinkPhone 25 sports Gorilla Glass 7i, which Corning announced in the spring. Furthermore, the new ThinkPhone will receive software and security updates for five years, presumably until Android 19 arrives. Currently, Motorola anticipates selling the ThinkPhone 25 in Europe and other markets for €499 (~$554) from November onwards. The device should be available in the UK too, but for a comparatively higher £450 (~€541/$599).
