OPPO K12 Plus hyped to launch as new Android smartphone with flagship-level battery, charging and durability
The OPPO K12 Plus is touted to launch as a smartphone that can "thrive" under harsh treatment while maintaining the same "Tough Esthetics" as its pre-existing vanilla sibling (a Chinese-market analog of the OnePlus Nord CE4 that currently starts for INR 23,499 (~$255) on Amazon India).
The device has an almost imminent launch date of October 12, 2024, although OPPO already hints that the Plus might have an even bigger battery than the original K12 (which, along with the OnePlus 12R and Nord CE4, were a big deal at their launch for their 5,500mAh typical capacity).
Then again, the K12 Plus will launch with slower charging than those 100W devices. Nevertheless, OPPO asserts that it will still be worthwhile with the new "Endurance Edition" of its 80W SUPERVOOC system. It is slated to come with a new dual-port gallium nitride (GaN) power brick, which might charge the K12 Plus by 50% in just 20 minutes.
Incidentally, the upcoming top-end Find X8 series are also thought to charge at 80W. Finally, the K12 Plus is set to debut as the mascot device for an intriguing OPPO initiative whereby users in eligible Chinese cities can pick up or drop off a 33W SuperVOOC power bank at dedicated installations, 'battery swap'-style.
Despite all this interesting hype, it remains unknown whether the OPPO K12 Plus will have the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 platform as its vanilla counterpart.
