Apple analyst delivers new details about iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and even rumoured iPhone 17 Air
Apple has only just started selling the iPhone 16 series, which debuted last month alongside the Watch Series 10 (curr. $389.99 on Amazon). Nonetheless, various sources have been discussing the company's next iPhones, which could represent a departure from recent generations.
In summary, Apple is expected to replace all current iPhones with direct successors apart from the iPhone 16 Plus, which could make way for the more compact model called the iPhone 17 Air or iPhone 17 Slim. Now, famed Apple analyst Jeff Pu has delivered early information about not just the latter but also the higher-end iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Reportedly, Apple has not settled on the name for its slimmer iPhone 17 yet. However, Pu claims that the company plans to combine a 6.6-inch display with 8 GB of RAM and an Apple A19 chipset built on 3 nm TSMC nodes. As such, while the device will meet the requirements for Apple Intelligence, it will sit as a mid-range option in Apple's iPhone 17 series.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are reputed to feature new 48 MP telephoto cameras that still top out at 5x optical zoom. Likewise, Pu believes that Apple plans to use both devices to showcase a new 24 MP front-facing camera.
On top of that, the pair are anticipated to complement an Apple A19 Pro chipset with 12 GB of RAM, which would be a first for any iPhone. With that being said, only the iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumoured to sport a narrower Dynamic Island. Allegedly, this will be possible by switching Face ID from diffractive lenses to meta-lenses; no specifics in this regard have been revealed yet, though.
