AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D clock speed uplift, 3D V-cache amount and TDP confirmed by new leak
A Cinebench 2024 run from earlier suggested the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D would up its base clock to 4.7 GHz (vs 4.2 GHz on the Ryzen 7 7800X3D). Its gaming performance, on the other hand, might not be as impressive, at least in some titles. Videocardz spotted a motherboard maker's support document which confirmed that figure and shed light on some more details about AMD's upcoming CPU.
The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, like the two Ryzen 7 X3D models that came before it, comes with 96 MB of L3 cache. Additionally, it has a 120 Watt TDP. Its other specs are unknown, but it will likely keep the same 8-core layout with 1 CCD getting full access to the extra L3 cache.
Even though AMD is yet to confirm it, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is geared for an October 24 launch with sales to commence a week or two after. The remaining two Zen 5 X3D SKUs (Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D) are expected to launch next year, and if some rumours are accurate, they'll come with extra 3D V-cache.
