AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D outperforms Core i7-14700K in PugetBench with impressive results
The Ryzen 9000X3D lineup - AMD's answer to Intel's Arrow Lake-S, is set to hit the scene on November 7. The 8-core variant of the lineup, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has appeared in quite a few benchmarks before, and has now dipped its toes in the creator-oriented PugetBench benchmark.
However, the result pages, spotted by momomo_us, have already been taken down. The Ryzen 9800X3D managed a whopping 10,487 points in PugetBench for DaVinci resolve, along with an equally impressive 14,201 points in PugetBench for Premiere Pro. Paired with 32 GB of RAM and an RTX 4090 GPU on an Asus X870E motherboard, the CPU isn't here to play small.
Before we get too starry-eyed, it should not be surprising to note that the 8-core Ryzen 7 9800X3D scores noticeably lower than Intel's Core Ultra 9 285K, while being almost neck and neck with the more comparable Core i7-14700K. Pugetbench scores, however, depend on a surfeit of factors, so take these comparisons with a grain of salt.
That said, for those in the creative fields who are well-versed with PugetBench, the leaked listings should provide ample insight into how AMD's upcoming 'Granite Ridge' family will perform in non-gaming workloads. If these scores are any indication, along with the previously leaked Cinebench scores, AMD appears poised to take Intel by the horns.
