Original article:
A new leak has revealed the price of AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7 9800X3D desktop CPU. Noted X leaker @AnhPhuH says it gets a $30 price increase over its last-gen counterpart (Ryzen 7 7800X3D), meaning it will cost about $479 at launch. Of course, this price applies to only one market (United States) and could be different in different regions.
Do note that leaked prices are often finicky and subject to last-minute changes. Then again, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is fundamentally a Ryzen 7 7800X3D (curr. $476 on Amazon) with higher base/boost clocks; although you do get a reverse CCD/V-cache layout and a chip manufactured on TSMC's cutting-edge N4P node. Nevertheless, given the increased cost of TSMC wafers, a $30 price increase is understandable.
Performance-wise, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is rumoured to be anywhere between 5-8% faster than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D in single-core workloads and up to 15% in multi-core. The CPU is clearly aimed at Ryzen 7 5800X3D owners looking for an upgrade. AMD confirmed the Ryzen 7 9800X3D would hit shelves on November 7, so it won't be long before we find out how the newest Zen 5 silicon costs.
