Analyst shares new details about rumoured new Apple iPhone SE release
Apple has not refreshed the iPhone SE in over two years. For context, the iPhone SE 3rd Gen (curr. $182.99 - renewed on Amazon) is the only iPhone left from that period that is still old through official channels. Based on recent reports, a 4th Gen iPhone SE (iPhone SE 4) may not launch until early 2025.
Nonetheless, Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) alleges that panel shipments will begin this month for Apple's next iPhone SE, if they have not already. Reportedly, Apple has chosen BOE and LG Display for the iPhone SE 4 but not Samsung Display. Moreover, Young adds that BOE and LG Display. By contrast, the latter supplies Apple with panels for the new iPhone 16 series.
In a tweet, Young states that Apple actually intends to recycle the display from the iPhone 14. Thus, the iPhone SE 4 should output natively at 2,532 x 1,170 pixels across a 6.1-inch surface with 1,200 nits peak brightness. As a result, the iPhone SE 4 should be much larger than its predecessor, which is a mere 138.4 mm tall and 67.3 mm wide. In comparison, the 6.1-inch panel will ensure that the iPhone SE 4 is closer to 147 mm tall and 71.5 mm wide. Incidentally, the next iPhone SE should carry over other flagship iPhone features too, details of which we have covered separately.
