Samsung unveils Galaxy A16 5G smartphone with Dimensity 6300 processor in India
Samsung introduced its latest entry-level Galaxy A16 5G smartphone in Europe, last week. Now, the company has officially launched the Galaxy A16 5G smartphone in Indian markets with some minor tweaks. The successor to the Galaxy A15 5G smartphone comes with minor upgrades, mostly limited to the smartphone’s internal hardware.
Samsung went with MediaTek chipset for the Galaxy A16 5G. Powering the smartphone with a Dimensity 6300 processor, coupled with Arm Mali-G57 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB internal storage, which is further expandable up to 1.5TB via microSD card slot. However, the Europe variant ships with an Exynos 1330 processor.
As far as software is concerned, the 5G-enabled smartphone runs on Android 14 based on OneUI 6.1 out of the box. Samsung promises six major Android OS updates (up to Android 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20) and six years of security patches, till October 2030. There are no changes in the camera specifications. Samsung opted for the same sensors which are found in the last generation Galaxy A15 5G smartphone. You’ll get a triple rear camera array at the back, consisting of a 50MP primary camera, a 5MP ultrawide shooter, and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, there’s a 13MP selfie camera.
This time, Samsung has slightly increased the overall size of the smartphone. It now measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9 mm, up from 160.1 x 76.8 x 8.4 mm. The Galaxy A16 5G now boasts a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate support. Furthermore, the device ships with a 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired charging support. Additionally, the device is IP54 rated which means it can easily withstand normal water splashes.
The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G starts at INR 18,999 (roughly $225) for the base 8GB RAM and 128GB model, while the 8GB RAM and 256GB model is priced at INR 21,999 (roughly $261). It is available in Blue, Gold, Black, and Light green color options. The Galaxy A16 5G smartphone is now available via Samsung’s official website and Amazon India.
