While it won't debut till early 2027, Samsung already has the Galaxy S27 series in development, and a new leak now claims the line-leading Galaxy S27 Ultra could arrive without one notable feature onboard.
As speculated by Chinese leaker Setsuna Digital, Samsung may be mulling the idea of abandoning the built-in S Pen on the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Supposedly, the company could be set to give up the S Pen almost entirely for its smartphones, with most ardent users of the accessory opting for tablets instead. The leaker also claims there's also the option of the Galaxy S27 Ultra featuring an external S Pen like on the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Tangentially, the source asserts that Samsung has canceled the Galaxy Z Fold7's S Pen, likely referring to the rumored new S-Pen said to be in development for the foldable. That's corroborated—at least in part—by another report which indicates production of a new S Pen model has come to a halt with Samsung "facing some issues". There's a chance this means the Galaxy Z Fold7 may not offer S Pen support in any form. After all, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition it adopts most of its hardware from doesn't either.
