PandaFlashPro has offered fresh insights into the Galaxy Z Fold7 and how Samsung plans to distinguish it from the existing Galaxy Z Fold6 (curr. $1,549 on Amazon). Based on recent reports, Samsung's next foldable may be one of the only foldables that leverages Qualcomm's full-fat Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. In comparison, the new Find N5, which can already be imported worldwide, utilises Qualcomm's slower 7-core variant.
The Find N5 is much thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold6 though, which Oppo and reviewers have gone to great lengths to demonstrate in early coverage. In response, Samsung is expected to adopt the form factor of last year's Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition for the Galaxy Z Fold7. Although the Special Edition is over 1.7 mm thicker than the Find N5 when closed, its form factor and crease visibility should allow the Galaxy Z Fold7 to get much closer to recent Oppo, Honor and Huawei rivals than the Galaxy Z Fold6.
Samsung achieved this reduction in thickness on the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition by removing the digitiser needed to provide S Pen support. Reportedly, this removal would be a one-off, with S Pen support returning on the Galaxy Z Fold7. According to PandaFlashPro, Samsung has scheduled new S Pen mass production for June ahead of a July release for the Galaxy Z Fold7 itself.
The leaker adds that this new S Pen will be 'a bit thicker' than the existing S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold6, which is noticeably larger than the one that ships with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Allegedly, the adoption of a new design will coincide with updated pen tips, too. While PandaFlashPro insists that these will improve the writing experience over old models, they have not offered any specifics in this regard.
