Oppo has delivered the Find N5, which seeks to dethrone all existing foldables around it with numerous upgrades over the Find N3 and the OnePlus Open (curr. $1,699.99 on Amazon) by extension. Please note OnePlus confirmed last week that there would be no OnePlus Open 2 based on the Find N5. As such, the Find N5 effectively succeeds not just the Find N3 but also the OnePlus Open.
While the Find N3 and OnePlus Open arrived in October 2023 sporting thinner chassis and technically superior camera hardware than its peers, the foldable market has moved on since then. In response, Oppo has dropped the thickness of its latest foldable to 8.93 mm, which sees it undercut the Magic V3 by up to 0.27 mm. The Find N5 tips the scales at 229 g too, compared to 219 g and 226 g for the Vivo X Fold3 and Magic V3, respectively.
The Find N5 surpasses the Magic V3 with a larger 5,600 mAh combined battery capacity though that Oppo has split between 3,085 and 2,515 mAh cells. The Find N5 boasts 50 W wireless and 80 W wired charging support too. Although these wattages fall short of recent Vivo foldables, they should see Oppo's latest foldable charging faster than its Honor, Google, Huawei, Samsung and Xiaomi contemporaries.
Oppo combines this fast charging technology with 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, albeit its slower 7-core variant designed for foldables. The Find N5 also features comparatively large LTPO OLED displays. According to Oppo, its new foldable leverages a 6.62-inch cover display, which it complements with an 8.12-inch foldable panel. Meanwhile, Oppo has equipped the device with the following camera hardware:
- Primary - 50 MP Sony LYT-700, f/1.8 aperture, 21 mm equivalent focal length
- Ultra-wide - 8 MP, f/2.2 aperture, 15 mm equivalent focal length, 116° Field of View
- Telephoto - 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5, f/2.7 aperture, 70 mm equivalent focal length (3x optical zoom)
- Front-facing - 8 MP, f/2.4 aperture, 21 mm equivalent focal length (both cameras)
The Find N5 starts at CNY 8,999 (~$1,240) in China with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Alternatively, Oppo sells the handset with 16 GB of RAM and a choice between 512 GB or 1 TB of storage for CNY 9,999 (~$1,378) and 10,999 (~$1,515), respectively. The Find N5 is also available in Singapore for SGD 2,499 (~$1,868). ComputerBase reports to have received confirmation that Oppo has no plans to launch the Find N5 in Europe.
