Oppo raised eyebrows when it chose to showcase the new, lighter and thinner Find N5's structural integrity by integrating it into a swing that a fully-grown, albeit probably ~50kg (~110lb) human could use, in which the weight was supposedly taken by the new foldable smartphone's cutting-edge hinge.
The YouTuber State of Tech's decision to replicate this experiment might result in even more apprehension for the device (now priced at €1,657 (~$1,788) in Europe via TradingShenzhen) - even before the phrase "built with cheaper, less fancy materials" was uttered - as there was only 1 unit of the Find N5 involved, whereas Oppo chose to distribute the weight between 4 of them.
Nevertheless, the swing was completed with 2 ropes connected by a strap running across the top of the N5's hinge, which was suspended across a gap between 2 wooden boards, as before.
Amazingly, the smartphone seemed to keep its part of the structure up without collapsing inward, even when the load placed on it was maxed out to 90lb (~41kg) in total - albeit apparently for only a few seconds at a time per test.
Nevertheless, the Find N5 also seemingly remained fully functional and capable of folding as normal by the end of the video. It will be interesting to see if the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 can really beat it in these terms later in 2025.
