Garmin announces new Fenix 7 beta update with minor heart rate related improvement

Garmin has released another beta update in its 20.xx testing cycle for the Fenix 7 and related smartwatches. Beta version 20.14 follows a few days after beta version 20.13 and arrives in the wake of the recent ‘triangle of death’ bug experienced by many users.

The release notes for beta version 20.14 indicate that a new open connections notification has been added to the heart rate broadcast app. There are bug fixes for issues like an abnormal cadence linked to the metronome and the wrong color of a BMX bike in a user's cycling profile. On top of this, Garmin says it has resolved problems like a map of your journey not being drawn in full and map settings not updating as expected.

The company indicates that there are other minor bug fixes and improvements, which it does not detail. It is worth noting that there is no reference to the GPS-related ‘triangle of death’ bug in the change log. However, Garmin has already offered a possible solution for this problem.

Beta version 20.14 is rolling out to Fenix 7 (curr. $449.99 at Amazon) and 7 Pro, Fenix 7x and 7x Pro, Fenix 7s and 7s Pro, Epix and Epix Pro 42mm/47mm/51mm, Enduro 2, Quatix 7, and MARQ Gen 2 wearables. It will not reach the Tactix 7 or MARQ Aviator Gen2 smartwatches. In a post on the company’s forum, a team member notes that this update is already available to 50% of eligible users and can be downloaded by going to Menu > System > Software Update > Check For Updates.
