The Garmin Fenix 8, Fenix E and Enduro 3 smartwatches are currently receiving software version 12.38. This stable update provides a fix for a bug relating to the GPS connection, with an upgrade for the GPS firmware. However, in a post on the Garmin forum, the company indicated that this release has not yet reached all users.

Garmin has released another stable update for the Fenix 8, Fenix E and Enduro 3 wearables, version 12.38. The public release arrived around two months after version 12.35, which provided several bug fixes and restricted the Workout Execution score to the running and cycling-related workouts.

The change log for stable software version 12.38 lists only one amendment: a bug fix for an issue linked to GPS acquisition. As such, the GPS software version has been upgraded from version 2.11 to version 2.60. Several users have already reported seeing an improvement here. Recently, GPS connection times ranged from 20 seconds to around three minutes. After the update, the connection is said to take around five seconds, a return to previous performance levels.

According to a post on the Garmin Forum from a team member, software version 12.38 is currently available to 50% of users of the Fenix 8, Fenix E and Enduro 3 (curr. $833.99 at Amazon). However, it is unclear when this phased rollout will be complete. It is worth noting that, as its name indicates, version 12.38 is not related to the newer 13.xx software currently in beta testing. It remains to be seen when such a stable release will arrive for these smartwatch users; it is expected to bring the ability to add passcodes and a QWERTY keyboard layout with support for predictive text, amongst other enhancements.
