The Amazfit T-Rex 3 smartwatch has received a new update, version 3.5.4.8. This is the second reported 2025 release for this wearable, following software version 3.4.4.7, which arrived in January. However, shortly after this update, many users complained of faster-than-expected battery drain, which was thought to be linked to the new active heart rate monitoring feature.
Software version 3.5.4.8 brings a new Ski machine workout to T-Rex 3 users. This activity can record various data points, such as distance and stroke rate. The Fishing activity now lists the GPS location of the fishing rod on the workout record page, helping users find the optimal fishing spots. Plus, Strength training has been improved so that it is easier to make modifications during rest periods.
According to the changelog, there is also a new Audio Control app, for wrist-based controls of music playing via your connected smartphone. When you import a route track via the Zepp app, you can now choose the display checkpoints on the watch. On top of this, Amazfit suggests that it has optimized the logic behind notifications that pop up during workouts. However, there is no mention of a resolution for the reported battery drain issue.
This 13.47 MB file can be downloaded via the Zepp app, by going to Profile > Amazfit T-Rex 3 > System Update. The Amazfit T-Rex 3 smartwatch is currently available in three colors, including the new Haze Grey, at Amazon for $279.99.
