Garmin has launched a new organisational app, ComingUp, which is free to download from the Connect IQ store. According to the app listing, it can be used to help the brand’s smartwatch users manage tasks and enhance their productivity. Garmin suggests that the “utilitarian interface” will help users to remain focused.
The ComingUp app can connect to third-party apps like Google Tasks, Todoist, and Microsoft To Do lists, syncing in real-time. This means that you can edit your to-do lists, like adding items using the QWERTY keyboard or marking completed tasks directly from your watch. On top of this, you can choose to get notifications on the watch when an item is due. It is worth noting that users must give permission for the app to run in the background when not active, which Garmin suggests could impact the battery life of its smartwatches. It must also connect with your Garmin Connect fitness profile.
So far, users have provided mixed reviews. While a few have indicated that the app is a helpful addition, others reported that only default projects, lists or inboxes were synced. Plus, a couple of users flagged that the app didn’t seem to be working on supposedly compatible models, like the Venu 3 and Forerunner 955 Solar. The new Garmin ComingUp app is said to be compatible with a wide range of the brand’s smartwatches. These include the new tactix 8 and Descent G2, as well as the Fenix 8, Forerunner 255 and vivoactive 5 (curr. $245.89 at Amazon); a full list of compatible devices can be found at the Connect IQ store.
