New Google Pixel Fold to be thinner but heavier than Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 as new leaks confirm 'Pixel 9 Pro Fold' name and high launch prices
Google is on the verge of replacing the Pixel Fold (curr. $879 - refurbished on Amazon), roughly fifteen months after the device's initial release. With that being said, many pre-orders did not begin shipping until August 2023. As a result, the Pixel Fold's lifespan is effectively a year in many cases.
Until now, the Pixel Fold's successor has been referred to as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, albeit without anyone providing anything that verified that claim. 91mobiles, Android Headlines and @OnLeaks have done so now though, evidence of which we have embedded below. Unsurprisingly, the new leaks show that will lean heavily on AI features when marketing its Pixel 9 Pro Fold, whether that be Add Me, Best Take, Circle to Search, Gemini or Magic Editor.

According to Android Headlines, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be thinner but heavier than contemporaries like the Galaxy Z Fold6. Specifically, the website states that the former will be 10.5 mm thick when closed, which would make it 13% thinner than the Pixel Fold and Galaxy Z Fold6. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is rumoured to weigh about 9% less than its predecessor too, although its 257 g weight is about 7.5% heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold6.
Allegedly, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will start at $1,799 in the US, which is in line with an earlier leak that focused on Eurozone pricing. Please note that the device will start with 256 GB of storage. By contrast, a 512 GB variant is expected to retail for $1,919 in the US but €2,029 in the Eurozone.
