A beta update is on the way to one Garmin smartwatch, marking the start of a new testing cycle. Version 20.15 is expected to roll out in waves, bringing several new features to the wearable. Plus, a range of bug fixes tackle issues with sleep mode, calendar, and data display errors.

Garmin has announced a new beta update for the newer Forerunner 165 smartwatch. This is the first release in the 20.xx testing cycle, with cycle 19.xx concluding a few months ago with a stable update.

Beta version 20.15 adds Garmin Share to the Forerunner 165. This feature lets you share your workouts, courses and waypoints with other devices or Garmin users. There is also a new Device Settings Backup and Restore function, alongside improvements for race time predictions and the pool swim activity. On top of this, Garmin's Run Coach can now sync with the Garmin Connect app. There are a range of bug fixes for sleep mode, data display errors, the calendar and translations. As usual, the company asks users to report any new bugs they encounter while testing the beta update in the bug reports section of the forum.

According to the Garmin team, the update will roll out in phases. However, the release's estimated start and end date have yet to be announced. When it is available on your Forerunner 165 smartwatch, you can download the update by going to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. Plus, you can join the Beta Program via Garmin Connect.
