Xiaomi announces Smart Band 9 with upgraded metal body

Xiaomi's Smart Band 8 is getting a successor, the Xiaomi Smart Band 9. Per the latest announcements, it will launch on July 19 in China. Not much has been shared yet, but the company did offer a first look at the upcoming fitness tracker. The design appears to be similar to the predecessor, but the brand says that the metal body is upgraded, which should lead to better durability.

Xiaomi also teases that the new Smart Band 9 will offer an upgraded smart experience, but the company has not explained what the upgrade will be. Other than that, the brand has confirmed that there will be a special edition, which will sport a white ceramic body.

There are new strap options as well, including genuine leather, metal, and woven wristbands. Spec-wise, we may see the upcoming fitness tracker coming with the same 1.62-inch AMOLED screen with a 60 Hz refresh rate and 326 ppi. Last year's model offered more than 200 watch faces, and we could see some new ones being introduced with the Smart Band 9.

Speaking of which, there were a good number of health and fitness features on the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 (available on Amazon). Given that the brand has teased that the new fitness band will deliver an upgraded smart experience, we could see more being added to the upcoming model.
