The front of Tesla's Robotaxi whose body sections may look like a mini Cybertruck of sorts will undergo changes. Elon Musk has now confirmed Bloomberg's report that the Robotaxi event may not be held on August 8 as previously teased.

In a recent Tesla promo video made to convince shareholder to vote for Elon Musk's pay package, there are a couple of pointers how the upcoming Robotaxi may look like.

First came a brief second of previously unseen vehicle front or rear diffuser sculpted in the edgy style of the Cybertruck. According to Walter Isaacson's biography of Elon Musk, he only agreed to do a Tesla Model 2 built on the Robotaxi platform because he loved the futuristic design that the team came up with.

That diffuser that looks deliberately planted in the video fits the bill, and later on there is also an image of a wooden prototype next to a sign that reads "NV93 vehicle package." The NV9X numbers are Tesla's internal codename for its next generation mass market vehicle platform that Elon Musk has talked at length about during quarterly calls.

At least one of those two hints about the Robotaxi design dropped in the video is now up in the air, the one that may depict a Cybertruck-ish front.

When replying to a video that comments on Bloomberg's report that the Robotaxi will be delayed to October, Elon Musk tips that he "requested what I think is an important design change to the front, and extra time allows us to show off a few other things."

This indicates that the Robotaxi may have been delayed for after the tentative August 8 date that Elon Musk teased not long ago. It doesn't confirm that the Robotaxi unveil has been postponed with two months, though.

According to the poster's sources, Tesla engineers were pondering something about the final front design of the vehicle during a meeting. Elon Musk then dropped a radical idea that they immediately liked, but said "it may take us two months to redesign it," and that's that.

There apparently wasn't any October launch pledge, yet the Robotaxi will now be announced when it's ready to be shown to the public, with a last-minute design decision which could make it even more "futuristic" than the shareholder video infers.
